Audio of Fr. Cyril Hovorun - April 16, 17

April 17, 2016

We are very appreciative that Fr. Cyril Hovorun was able to speak at our parish on Saturday, April 16 on The Pan-Orthodox Council: Behind the Iconostasis.

To add to his stay with us before addressing an assembly at Miami University at Oxford Ohio on Monday, April 18, Fr. Cyril concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with Fr. Steven on Sunday, and presented another insightful talk, on Orthodoxy in the World Today, during our post-Liturgy discussion.

Audio from both talks are at right...

Fr. Cyril Hovorun is a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church, Senior lecturer at the Stockholm School of Theology, Associate Dean at Sankt Ignatios Academy, and a researcher at Yale and Columbia Universities, exploring the role of Orthodoxy in the Public Square.

From 2007 to 2009 he was Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and initiated the first attempts at dialogue with the non-recognized Orthodox Churches in Ukraine. He has participated in official Catholic-Orthodox dialogue, and is also a member of the St Irenaeus group, which constitutes an unofficial dialogue between the Orthodox and Catholic theologians. From 2009 to 2012, he was the first deputy chairman of the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In preparation for his talk, we recommend reading his article, The Fragile Promise of the Pan-Orthodox Council.
